She has worked in the U.S., Europe, Middle East, Central Asia and Southeast Asia, providing strategic communications, government outreach, media, and civil society engagement in:

Fiona has worked with and for UN agencies, NGOs, and national-level government agencies in: the Unites States, Myanmar, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq, and the UAE. Fiona’s communications and outreach work is informed by her experience as a senior manager in such globally-recognized organizations as USAID, UNESCO, NDI, UNA-USA.

Fiona Shukri '89 has lived a life across borders, oceans and cultures. A life happily spent fostering international development, government outreach and civil society engagement. From Washington, D.C. to Paris to Kabul. From Azerbaijan to Egypt to Palestine, Jordan and Iraq.

Now a senior advisor and independent consultant for non-profit and private contractors, Shukri previously worked for the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs and the United Nations Educational Scientific & Cultural Organization.
